Erin and David's Quilt

In July our niece Erin and her boyfriend David got engaged. We are very happy for them both so I decided to inflict a quilt upon them as an engagement gift. This is the first quilt I have completed and the third top I had pieced so it the work of an amateur. I finished piecing it 20 minutes before we left to drive to the airport! While in Brisbane, I added the border and bought some wadding and a backing fabric.

Then I took it to a quilter who put it in his huge longarm quilting frame and quilted a lovely design all over it. Normally I would do that but had no time, it takes a while to do on a domestic machine.

Then I sewed on some fabric binding and hand stitched it down to make the edge.

The morning before we gave it to the happy couple I finished the hand sewing in our room at Jupiters Casino!

Finished! My first completed quilt. Congratulations Erin and David, we hope you and your children get many years of couch snuggling with this quilt.
