On Friday I drove to Mackay to collect Jdubya who was spending the weeknd with us. He is up from Narooma, visiting family and friends and having lived in Bowen briefly in the 1980s was curious to see our new place and we were all keen to catch up properly.
So the first evening was spent sharing the first Bowen spa with bubbles and bikkies and cheese, followed by Chicken Schitzel and Potato Bake, Jdubyas favourite dinner from me.
Next morning we went to the Horseshoe Bay Cafe for breakfast.

It is a lovely outlook, though it was a bit windy that day. It was beautiful weather though.

After breakfast we walked up to the lookout at the Horseshoe Bay Headland. It was a climb, but worth it. This is looking north.

We though we would take in all the views while the day was good, so we took Jdubya to the Mt Nutt Reservoir to take in the view there too. On his way up the stairs KISA encountered a snake sunning itself on the stairs. I was on the phone down below so missed the drama. Apparantly KISA does a very good reverse stair climb! It was a only a harmless tree snake but in Australia, you retreat first - check later!

The snake didn't stick around to take a photo of the three of us, so we had to post two pictures.

It was generally a lazy weekend, eating, drinking, chatting, chilling. Jdubya's son and heir came up on the Sunday after an eventful evening at a "bucks" party the night before. We went to The Cove chinese restuarant for dinner. It was very busy being Mother's Day but the food was great as usual.

Jdubya and son drove back the next day, after a cafe breakfast in town and some "work" visits.
